i support

A very nice recent campaign caught my attention - this year The Civil Society Gala gives all of us the possibility to help shape the Romanian civil society, by "adopting" an NGO - linking to it, promoting its projects, talking about them and so on. I think that's a really great idea, especially if all of us "adoptive parents" remember to keep an eye on the chosen NGOs.

I would adopt many of the featured NGOs, but i just thought that i should focus on one for the time being (and then maybe record podcasts with people from the other names on the list as well). And that one is The Ecology-Sport-Tourism Association (AEST). I like AEST because i somewhat perceive it as a sort of a gathering of planeteers (Captain Planet sense). They help form eco-volunteers, and i know how difficult, yet vital, this has become among the vast majority of young people. They have already formed over 600 eco-volunteers, who either developed their own associations, or they further collaborated in various eco-projects. And i strongly hope they keep on doing their great job (at this point, i am very tempted by the idea of becoming an eco-volunteer myself). Their projects for 2007 include:
  • 5 volunteer camps in Apuseni, Bucegi, Cozia, Piatra Craiului and Piatra Mare

  • eco-volunteer training courses, addressed to students

  • "Ecoturistica" educational magazine

  • implication, together with other organizations, in a vast campaign against the destruction of forests

Stay tuned for updates :).

It seems interesting, I'll check their website for more details.
That reminds me of the garbage near Silva Hotel in Busteni. Lots of people come there during the week-ends and never clean the place when they leave. Not to mention the smoke from the grills even such activities are forbidden. I even wrote a petition on domnuleprimar.ro and the mayor replied that it would be great if all people loved the mountain as much as I did. It looks like he doesn't care too much.

i know what you mean. this weekend, while walking in the woods, i was actually wondering who do people throwing all that garbage believe to be responsible for collecting their mess ? but i guess they don't really care.

and what pissed me even more: i reached Postaarul peak, and i was sitting there to enjoy the landscape and breathe fresh air - and then, a bunch of young people came and the first thing they did was to light up a cigarrette. as soon as they finished smoking, they left, of course. that felt really bitter.

who spammed, and who are you ? since i know we did not received any complain on this subject...by the way i am the webmaster of aest's website... it seems to me like a personal vendetta or something like that...

Cosmin is not talking about you spamming, but about the guys who developed the "Adopt an NGO" campaign :). He might be right, although i didn't consider their mails to be spam.

Mea culpa ! as long as their emails are sent to adresses from a database it could be considered spam...
